Renee Gilmore and Jenny Stam from Firemans Paving Contractors attended the Women’s Business Council Southwest Connections (WBCS) to Contracts event on April 12th. Connections to Contracts is a procurement-focused event connecting women-owned businesses with corporations and each other.

Renee and Jenny met one on one with representatives from the following corporations: Bank of America, Dallas College, Ericsson, Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD), Blue Cross Blue Shield, Dallas County, Raytheon Technologies, and The Container Store. Renee and Jenny also attended a panel discussion with Molly Sandlin of CAET Construction and Jimmy Lopez with McDonalds to learn more about their working relationship and how to successfully scale a small business working with a large corporation.

The goal of this event is to provide access to business opportunities between WBCS members with the opportunity that may lead to contracts, therefore helping women-owned businesses achieve parity.
